Awelye Exhibition

The latest exhibition from DACOU Galleries @ Quotidian & Quixotic North NSW is an exhibition by the senior women from Utopia NT.

The Exhibition is titled  Awelye meaning "Women's Ceremony", the works are acknowledgments of the women's responsibilities for the land and their relationship to it.

The painting designs vary and depend on the ceremony, the Dreaming, the seniority of each member and the time of year the ceremony is held. The women sing and dance during these ceremonies that can go on for many days and nights.
