This painting, 3065, is considered rare:
Minnie Pwerle had never really experimented with painting until in 1998 she accompanied her daughter, Barbara Weir, and other family members to Adelaide. As she watched Barbara paint she asked her grandson Fred Torres, if she could also paint. Fred handed her a canvas and a paintbrush and then watched with amazement as Minnie created a wonderful piece of art depicting her country known as Atnwengerrp. Fred quickly realized that Minnie had an innate artistic ability and a passion for art and these elements were reflected in each painting that Minnie happily presented to Fred and the rest of the DACOU staff. Minnie’s painting career began from this point and only stopped with her passing in 2006.. All Minnie Pwerle paintings created between 1998 and 2002 and are of DACOU provenance are higher priced than an equivalent later piece. The reason pertaining to this is that DACOU considers the 1998 to 2002 time frame to be the most creative and uninhibited in Minnie’s painting career and best portrays the evolution of her art. These pieces are a wonderful addition to any collector’s oeuvre.
